Tom Terlouw joined the Chair of Energy Systems Analysis (ETH Zurich) in March 2023 as a scientific assistant. Tom received his MSc in Energy Science from Utrecht University in 2018. Afterwards, he worked as an energy consultant at Energy21 (the Netherlands), where he was responsible to develop software for utility companies to optimize their data management and energy portfolio. Next, Tom worked on this PhD in the Technology Assessment group of the Laboratory for Energy Systems Analysis (LEA) at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) and in the institute of Energy and Process Engineering of ETH Zürich (ETH-SPL). His PhD work focused on decarbonizing the energy sector by evaluating carbon dioxide removal technologies and multi-energy systems with techno-economic and environmental life cycle assessments.
His research interests are in the topics of sustainability assessment, life cycle assessment, carbon dioxide removal technologies and energy system optimization. Visit his external page Google Scholar page to see a list of his recent scientific publications in international journals.
